Tatem & Selia's First Horse Show

Tatem and I attended the First Annual Silver Creek Horse Show at Dale Creek Equestrian facility this past weekend. What a great time we had! This was Tatem's first show, and technically, mine too as a "show mom". She decided to participate in Halter and all Walk/Trot classes they offered. This left us fairly occupied all day with some down time in between. Great way to break ourselves in to a show environment.

Tatem was a bit nervous to go to the show, but she had her friend Kailie participating as well, so it was an instant confidence-booster to her and improved her outlook on the day. No matter what, she was gunna get to ride around with a friend - what could be better right? . . . . Why a ribbon on course!

<img alt="" style="margin:0;padding:0;border:0;" src="http://funwithhorses.ucoz.com/_bl/0/s3934...

They looked so cute in their matching outfits. Even had time to pose for a crazy-face shot. . .

Tatem and Selia gave it their all in the Western classes. As a team, they earned two 2nd Place ribbons and a 3rd Place ribbon.

Then it was back to the trailers for a complete tack swap and outfit change.

One more big "cheese" for Mom before heading back into the ring.

English was her big worry for the day. She's been practicing for the past couple of weeks, and big props to my friend Joelle who has been working with her, because. . ... she got a 1st Place!

One last class then back to the trailer to tack down and change into comfy clothes again.

But just before that, we got the surprise of the day - Tatem & Selia were the Reserve High Point Champion in their division! In addition to their ribbons, they had earned an embroidered hay bag to commemorate their accomplishment.

It was soooooo much fun to watch Tatem take on the challenges that a show has, work thru them, share in accomplishments with a fellow rider, and thru it all enjoy herself!

Oh, if only it could be like this every time in the future, because looks like there will be many shows in the future - Tatem is hooked! (And so am I)

Online Resource Spot for Senior Horses

Ran into this site via an email update from Purina. Having numerous older horses myself, I found there are many Myths and Rumors about their proper care. This is a neat resource to keep on hand to peruse thru and utilize.
